Willow Creek jasper, from Idaho, comes in many color patterns, but all are pastels. This one is a mix of peachy orangey tones and beige tones. The palette is very soft, delicate and beautiful. Because this is a porcelain jasper, it has a wonderful glossy finish.
I used heavy, solid sterling silver wire to create a complimentary wire wrapped setting. Then I used baby fine sterling silver wire to weave the bail. This is a beautiful, large pendant made with time consuming techniques and with a high quality stone. I'm sure the new owner will love it as much as I do.

More About Jasper:
Jasper is an opaque and fine grained variety of impure Chalcedony (type of quartz). It has a hardness of 6.5-7 on the Moh's hardness scale. It is found in almost all colors. The interesting colors and patterns are caused by impurities. They can be up to 20% impure. Sometimes, those impurities will cause patterns that resemble pictures or landscapes and, as such, is called a picture jasper. Other times they cause a variety of color and or interesting patterns or bands.
Jasper is known as a supreme nurturer.
More about Willow Creek Jasper:
Willow Creek Jasper is called the "Queen of Jaspers" and for good reason. It is one of the finest of the porcelain jaspers. As a jasper, it is a form of opaque, impure chalcedony. This dense jasper achieves a liquid polish reminiscent of fine china. Willow Creek Jasper is found in one location in Idaho. It is found in a variety of pastel colors and patterns. One pattern, the prized orb pattern, arises because it is found within rounded nodules, called "thundereggs". The thunder eggs can be as large as 10 feet across, all are very difficult to extract from the surrounding rhyolite rock. Lucky for lapidary artists, Willow Creek Jasper contains fewer fractures than other fine jaspers.
Very fine Willow Creek Jasper are hard to come by. The material is plagued by rust stains and pits which will ruin an otherwise perfect cab.
