This handmade, sterling silver pendant is made with a natural stone cabochon called Blue Ice Polka Dot agate. These beautiful, distinctive agates are only found at the Richardson Rock Ranch, Madras, Oregon, formerly the Priday Ranch. They are known for their clear blue agate with golden dots and sometimes surreal multicolored landscapes. Sometimes they are found with opaque white agate rather than the clear blue- with the blue being more desirable by most and harder to get. This very large cab is 100% clear blue ice with layers of "floating" orbs or dots of golden ocher yellow. The depth is amazing!
Like I do for all of my sterling silver, wire wrapped jewelry, I used heavy sterling silver wire- not plated, filled or coated wire. I added a woven bail which is made with one long strand of very thin sterling silver. It takes a long time to do, so I save it for my best pieces. I incorporated a few sterling silver beads for a little accent, too. I love this cab and think this treatment really frames the stone well without hiding it.
