The sterling silver, handmade, wire wrapped pendant you are viewing is made with a beautiful plume agate called Prudent Man agate from Idaho. The source of this cab is from the early digs of vein #1. That makes this a rare cab, since the first vein is mined out.
This beautiful cabochon, which I cabbed myself, boasts layers of distinct plumes in teal green and red, with a background of pastel colored crazy agate layers.
I used heavy sterling silver to finish this. My husband loves this cab and says it looks like a garden scene. Taking his cue, I designed something that is reminiscent of a country cottage or fenced garden. The stone is very secure and the pendant very unique.

More about Agate:
Agate is a semi precious microcrystalline type of silica, a banded chalcedony, which is a member of the quartz family. Agates are finely grained, can contain bright colors and have a Moh's hardness of 6.5 to 7, which is very hard. Because of the hardness, agate takes a fabulous polish and is extremely durable for carved items. It has been a popular material for carving since ancient times. There are many types of agates. It is an avidly collected stone and is less common than a lot of other types of stones. It is very popular in jewelry.
Agate is a protective stone and attracts strength. It helps achieve balanced energy.
