These handmade, sterling silver, wire wrapped earrings are made with a very rare and tenderly beautiful stone called Bustamite. It comes from the Sugilite mines in Wessels South Africa. However, it is even more rare than sugilite and arguably even more exquisite. It is a gorgeous angel skin pink color- the same color as the most rare and coveted coral. These stones, which are a generous size, started out as beads. I decided to give them a bezel wrap instead. You can't see the holes at the top except for on the back. They are very small, 1mm. These are so perfect and I got so lucky to get them and got such a good deal that I couldn't let the holes stop me.
As with all of my wire wrapped jewelry, I used heavy sterling silver - not plated, filled or coated wire to finish this wire wrapped set of earrings. I added thick twisted wires and post style earrings. The wires have a diamond cut edge and really pick up the light to add some sparkle and interest without detracting from the wonderful color of the bustamite. I have provided a close up picture of it, but it doesn't capture the effect of light.
