These handmade, antiqued copper earrings are made with natural stone cabochons. The marquise shaped cabochons are very rare Ocean Jaspers from Madagascar. Ocean jasper, now extinct, is a very popular and collectible stone because of the orbs and the variety of colors you find it in. These have orange with yellow orbs in a semi translucent base. These are not cabs, they are flat. I tumbled for days for a beautiful polish. These colors are just in time for Fall fashions.
I made these wire wrapped earrings with heavy, pure copper wire and added an antique patina to it to harmonize with the stone. I wrapped these stones simply, added a bead and hammered the wires for extra strength. The earwires are expensive, hypo allergenic copper colored niobium. These are great for sensitive ears and go well with antiqued copper.

More about Ocean Jasper:
Ocean jasper is a rare, collectible and popular stone from the north-east coast of Madagascar near the village of Morovato. Before the supply was depleted, it was found off the coast at low tide. It was always in limited supply due to the difficulty in collecting it. Ocean jasper is a type of jasper called orbicular jasper because of the orb patterns found in it. It is alternatively called an agate, as well. It has remained so popular because of the incredible colors and sometimes surreal picture scapes created by the orbs. No stone is quite like it. Ocean jasper is one of my personal favorite stones. I am constantly on the lookout to bring you the quickly disappearing higher qualities of this unique stone.
