This handmade wire wrapped pendant is made with a very rare stone cabochon called Nuummite aka Nuumite or Numite.
Nuummite is from Greenland and is thought to be the oldest mineral on the planet at over 4 billion years old. Although that in itself makes for an interesting stone, add the fact that it has metallic looking sparkles- like tiny sparks of glittery colored foil embedded in the stone- to make this a visually interesting stone, too. The body of the stone is dark which makes the small chatoyant sparks light up. This material is uber hard to get a hold of. The sparks of color are very hard to photograph. This stone has a lot of sparkles.
I used heavy, solid sterling silver to create a this one of a kind wire wrapped setting. Like all my silver jewelry, I only use sterling silver, not silver filled, coated or plated. This is a very hard rock and will not break. I added a solid sterling silver bail.
