This wire wrapped pendant is made with Marra Mamba Tiger's Eye, sometimes also referred to Brockman Tiger's Eye. It is from two original deposits near Mount Brockman in Western Australia which are now mined out. This material is getting very rare. You will find plenty of stuff called Marra Mamba, but sadly it is only regular tiger's eye. True marra mamba is very chatoyant and has different colors including blue, red, gold, sometimes green and it has shiny hematite. The chatoyant effect is very pronounced and resembles liquid silk in the stone. This Marra mamba took a perfect polish, too. (Cabbed by a fellow rockhound friend.) The effect of the chatoyant fibers of tiger eye and the glossiness of the stone create an almost 3 dimensional surface in the cab. Hard to explain and even more hard to photograph. The patterns of color, tiger eye and jasper along with the hematite often produce really wild scenes. This is genuine marra mamba.
I did my best to give this cabochon a simple enough sterling silver wire wrapped setting to let the stone shine through and also add a bit of interest. This is a smaller, light loving stone. The pendant will light up with the light and outshine pendants twice it's size.
Please note: This is so much more bright in person. My light tent does it no justice, so I took it outside for a quick shot. This looks best when moving in the light.
