This handmade sterling silver wire wrapped pendant is made from a Burro Creek agate from Burro Creek, AZ. It is a purple agate which makes it unique and sought after. They typically have dendrites of white and yellow in them. This particular cab is made from old stock Burro Creek and is very rare and special. It is called Imperial Purple Burro Creek. Collecting is no longer permitted of this color material. I love the color. It is so much more saturated than the typical Burro Creek agate.
I had just enough of this material to cab one big tooth shaped cabochon. When I was finished, an idea for the setting came to me and wouldn't leave me alone until I finished it. It was difficult and time consuming, but when I was finished, I was very happy. The bottom of the stone is open, but don't worry because it is a hard agate and quite safe. This is the first wrap of it's kind that I have done and it is the first long tooth cut that I have done.
I used heavy, solid sterling silver (not coated, filled or plated) wire to make a sturdy wire wrapped setting. The stone is very secure. I think the silver loops against the purple are beautiful.
